The Office’s inevitable departure from Netflix was officially announced last night. At the end of 2020, the beloved show will be making its way to NBC’s own streaming service. Owning just over 7% of all streaming on Netflix, this comes as a huge, although completely expected, blow to the streaming service.
With NBC announcing plans for their own streaming service, it was only a matter of time before The Office, which NBC owns the rights to, would be plucked as the drawing factor. In one of the most unique phenomena in TV history, The Office has only gained popularity since going off the air in 2013, to the point that at least one viewing of the show is almost essential to understanding modern pop culture.
